Early Life
Journalism is in his blood because his father was a journalist in the Akashvani and he was best at it. His father’s name was Suresh Awasthi. Sumit had a keen interest in becoming part of the Indian Army. He tried his test in the Army twice but he failed every time.
After completing his post-graduation he did his internship with Jansatta. He was interviewed on a news channel. Then the time came when he was selected for Zee News in 1997 and he joined that channel. Opportunities were waiting for him, that’s the reason he worked with various news channels like IBN 7 and Aaj Tak. Awards in his category received in 2012, Madhavji Jyoti Puraskar as the best journalist. He worked as a senior editor for five years at Aaj Tak. He handled the international affairs and cricket news covered by him.
He anchored various shows but his famous show was ‘Shabaash India’ . In that show he showed how India did various activities which made it stronger and impressive among other countries. That was the time when he joined hands with the popular show Kaun Banega Crorepati as an expert.
