Early Life
She was born on 9 June 1975 in a Gujarati family in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Her mother is a housewife and her father is a businessman. Amisha got her name from a collaboration of father and mother name Am from her father and Asha from her mother name that combine together form name Amisha. Her grandfather Rajni Patel is a well-known lawyer and politician. Ashmit Patel is the brother of Amisha Patel. He is also a Bollywood actor. Her family is living in Mumbai and has great relationship with various industry families.
She completed his schooling from Cathedral and John Connon School. She was good in her studies so she graduated with bio-genetic engineering from Tufts University in the USA. She passed her graduation and got a gold medal.
Filmy career
Amisha’s parents were not ready to move her toward acting. For the sake of their parents she did a job at Khandwala securities limited. She was working as an economics analyst there. She was an expert in Bharatnatyam; she was doing it when she was only five years old. She did work for a little time in a firm then she realized that she is not interested in doing a job after that she joined a theater group.
In the year 1999, she acted in the play named Neelam. This play was watched by her parents and they realized that she can do better in the acting field so they allowed her to act in films.
Amisha’s Acting Debut
Her father and Rakesh Roshan were old friends from his boarding school. There was a time when Rakesh saw Amisha was dancing in a party and told Amisha’s father that he wanted to launch his son Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel in a movie but Amisha was only sixteen years old and her father denied the offer. Then Rakesh cast Kareena Kapoor for the film but Rakesh Roshan’s first choice was Amisha. After that, at lunch he asked her to do a film with his son. At that time she agreed. Then Kareena was replaced by Amisha Patel. The film ‘s name was ‘Kaho Naa…. Pyaar Hai’. She won Filmfare best actress at debut in the year 2000.
After the success of that film she did Telugu film Badri. This film was directed by Pawan kalian and this film did well at the box-office. In the year 2001 her second film ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ with co-star Sunny Deol. She played the role of a Muslim girl who was apart from family during partition and fell in love with Sunny Deol. For this film she auditioned for around 12-hour- long. She also won a Filmfare special performance award for role in this movie.
Phase of struggle
This phase lies between 2003 to 2006. In the year 2003 she got a limited offer for films. In the year 2003 she did only two films and she appeared in one movie in that year 2004 because her selection of movies was not working in films.
In the year 2005 she did four films but none did well in Bollywood. In the year 2006 six films were flops. She was doing work hard but her work was not seen in movies so she gave many flops day by day. She started to see herself away from industry.
In the year 2007 this year was the revival of her career her new film was “Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.” The box-office audience accepted her as an actress again. She got praise for her role in the film. In the film ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ she appeared in the role of a girl named Radha. From that film she got back in Bollywood. She got appreciation for her role and her career got momentum again in industry.
Gadar 2 films released this year means 2023 this film is doing well at the box-office. People like her acting in movies. This film is their life move forward after “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha”.
