During his early career, Ratan Tata joined the Tata Group in 1961. At that time he was on the shop floor post of Tata Steel. In which 1971 Navodaya was elected as the director of the National Radio and Electronic Company. In 1981, the chairmanship of Tata Industries was given to Ratan Tata, after which Ratan Tata was made the successor of the Tata Group after the retirement of JRD Tata in 1991.
